Dakota Memories Bed & Breakfast is locally owned and operated by Walt & Jan Schaefer of Wall, South Dakota. Walt, an East Tennessee native, moved to South Dakota in 1980 and met and married Jan Riggins in 1982. A native South Dakotan, Jan was born in Rapid City and raised on a ranch about fifty miles southeast of Wall. She grew up roaming her backyard... the badlands of South Dakota. This love for her home inspired the Dakota Room (see photo gallery). Jan's love of antiques inspired the Victorian Room (see photo gallery).
